James Corden reportedly promised to pay the salaries of 60 production staff for The Late Late Show.
The 41-year-old presenter is believed to cover his own pocket wages after staff were informed that CBS would no longer pay them.
Production for The Late Late Show was halted in March when the state of California was locked up due to the coronavirus pandemic, and James has been hosting the show from his Los Angeles home.

According to Variety, CBS originally promised to cover Late Late Show staff salaries for eight weeks, but has now informed them that this deal has come to an end.
Then James told staff last week that they would be suspended in the future, but that he would cover his wages himself.
The publication added that the total amount James is paying to cover staff salaries may be “at least mid five figures per week.”

James and his producers on the Late Late Show have also been reported to have kept staff engaged with the show during the shutdown through various work-from-home projects and daily conversations about Zoom.
It is believed that due to the simple production of The Late Late Show, it could be among the first series to resume filming in the studio as the blocking restrictions are relaxed.

Since then, James has been hosting the show in his garage and promised that he will return to the studio in the future when the restrictions are lifted.
The star was also forced to take a break from filming this week to undergo ‘minor’ eye surgery.
In a statement shared on his social media platform, the former Gavin and Stacey star said: ‘Hello everyone. Yesterday I had to undergo minor surgery on my eye. I’m fine and recovering, but I won’t be able to shoot new episodes for a few nights.
‘Thank you to everyone who has been watching Late Late Shows from my garage. I will be back soon. Stay safe and well everyone. X. ‘ [sic]
‘I’ll be back soon’: This week James also revealed that he had undergone ‘minor eye surgery’, but assured fans that ‘he is well and is recovering.’
Earlier this month, the star of Gavin and Stacey, who shares kids Max, 9, Carey, 5, and Charlotte, 2, with his wife Julia Carey, candidly discussed the life lessons he learned during the world coronavirus crisis.
Writing for TIME magazine, the presenter confessed that he does not want to lose the feeling of gratitude that has developed in the pandemic.
The Los Angeles-based television star, who hails from London, added that she “never felt so far” from her British relatives and that all that matters now is being there for loved ones.
