Iran’s President expresses deep regret over Friday’s disaster

(MENAFN) On Saturday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani expressed his deepest condolences to Turkey after an earthquake that killed 26 people in the Aegean Sea.

At least 830 people were also injured when a 6.6 magnitude earthquake struck Turkey’s Aegean region of Izmir on Friday.

Rouhani affirmed his willingness to provide medical assistance and support to the poor affected by the Izmir earthquake in a message to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Rouhani stated that, “The earthquake in Izmir that killed and injured many dear people in that region has hurt us deeply.”

Furthermore, he added that “the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran declares its readiness to send any kind of aid and medical assistance to the people in the areas affected by the earthquake.”
