Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has said his country will begin complying with the 2015 nuclear deal agreements within an hour after the United States rejoins the pact. Rouhani’s remarks came a day before the meeting between Iran and the European signatories to the agreement and on the same day that members of the US electoral college cast their votes to cement the victory of incoming President Joe Biden.

Biden has promised to rejoin
Joe Biden has vowed to return to the Obama-era nuclear deal as soon as he regains power. The agreement, signed in 2015 between Iran and other major world powers, including the United States, France, Britain, China, Russia and Germany (P5 + 1), saw Washington lifting economic sanctions against Tehran and, in return, the Republic. But at the same time, Tehran is being cautious, already indicating that it is unwilling to return to the negotiating table and re-discuss the terms of the deal.

Meanwhile, the United States on Monday imposed sanctions on two Iranian intelligence officials for their alleged role in the kidnapping of retired FBI officer Robert A. Levinson, who disappeared from the island of Kish in Iran on or around March 9, 2007. on that date. “Mohammad Baseri and Ahmad Khazai, acting in their capacity as MOIS officers, were involved in the kidnapping, arrest and probable death of Mr. Levinson,” the US State Department said in a statement.
