NEW DELHI: WhatsApp reportedly working to bring some new features to Apple iPhone users. According to a report in WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has released a new update, version 2.20.100.23, for beta users that incorporate features as usual. mute option, direct access to the catalog and traces of expired media. Since these features have already been rolled out for beta users of the app, the company is likely to roll them out for general users as well in the coming days.
In detailing these features, the report claims that WhatsApp is rolling out an ‘Always’ mute option for group chats. The function will allow users to put a certain user / group permanently silent. At this time, the maximum limit for it is one year. This means that it will replace the ‘i year’ option in group chats.
As for the direct access to the catalog, it will bring a single call button for commercial chats. Once the user touches it, they can choose the type of call. In the event that a company has the catalog function configured, a shortcut will appear in the navigation bar.
Lastly, the report claims that the expiring media feature, which was also recently discovered for Android users, is also in development for iPhone users. However, it does not give clarity on the timeline for the same. “When the feature is available in a future update, a new button will be added,” the report says.
For those unaware, the expiring media feature has been under speculation for over a year. It has appeared in various beta versions of Android, but has yet to be rolled out.
