A new report says that iPhone 12 users may be experiencing problems when it comes to displaying and receiving SMS messages, particularly from Android users.
As reported by MacRumors:
Since the launch of the new iPhone 12 models, many new iPhone owners have had problems with the Messages app. There are complaints from users not seeing SMS messages from friends, missing text messages in group chats, and not receiving notifications when text messages arrive.
MR notes that it is not clear at this stage if the problems are related to the iPhone 12 or a recent version of iOS 14, but that “most of the complaints seem to come from iPhone 12 owners.”
Reported issues include SMS messages simply not showing up when sent from Android devices, one user complaining that, when upgrading to an iPhone 12, he had not received messages in a group chat from an Android user, even though they appeared on the sender’s device.
Another cited the same issue, saying “I seem to be having trouble in group threads only when there are Android users,” noting that none of the conversations they participated in had made sense in recent days.

The report notes that some users also report problems receiving standalone messages outside of group chats and other problems where messages are received but without a notification.
A possible solution for floating Verizon users is to download the Verizon Message + app if you are on that network, or to reset the network settings on your iPhone, which appear to have worked for at least one user. Otherwise, you may have to wait for a solution from Apple or your respective provider.
