Insomniac creative director Bryan Intihar has explained the decision to recast Peter Parker in Marvel’s Spider-Man in response to the recent backlash.
Insomniac Games recently showcased the game for the upcoming remastered edition of Marvel’s Spider-Man, which will feature a new face for Peter Parker. The decision to recast the hero has not been well received by the game’s fanbase.
In response to the criticism, Insomniac creative director Bryan Intihar issued a statement saying, “We at Insomniac totally understand your reaction … It even took me a while to get used to Peter’s new look.” He then explained, “As we discussed the future of the franchise and moved to the PS5, it quickly became apparent that delivering even more believable characters made finding a better facial match for actor Yuri Lowenthal, whom we all love as Peter, was a need”.

He went on to assure fans that the team cares about both the character and the fans. “Please know that we do not make this decision / change lightly,” Intihar continued. “As we did during the development of Marvel’s Spider-Man, we will continue to read your feedback, listen and always look for ways to improve every facet of the game.”
Insomniac is ready to release so much Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered as well as standalone Spider-Man: Miles Morales, both exclusively for Sony’s upcoming PlayStation 5. While Yuri Lowenthal provided the voice of Peter Parker, actor John Bubniak provided his image and performance in the original game. The remastered game replaces Bubniak with actor Ben Jordan.
Developed by Insomniac Games and PlayStation Studios, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales It will be available on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on November 12.
