[ad_1]

Taking a look at seven days of Android news and headlines around the world, this week’s Android Circuit features Samsung’s latest mid-range Galaxy and premium Galaxy Fold, new Pixel models confirmed, iPhone SE fights against the Pixel 4a and OnePlus 8T leaks, the latest realMe smartphones and Xiaomi’s under-display camera.

Android Circuit is here to remind you of some of the many things that have happened around Android in the last week (and you can find Apple’s weekly news roundup here).

Samsung’s latest mid-range Galaxy

If Apple has the iPhone SE, Google has the Pixel 4a and OnePlus has the Nord… what does Samsung have? This week it launched another of its popular Galaxy A-class smartphones, the A42 5G. Apart from the obvious confirmation of 5G support, the South Korean company has not offered much more details. Yordan Angelov reports:

“The Galaxy A42 5G is built around a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED, and while we didn’t get the panel resolution, the A41 already has a 1080p screen, so anything else would be a surprise. The fingerprint sensor underneath of the screen It will certainly also carry over along with the waterdrop notch for the selfie camera on the top. There are four more cameras on the back, which is one more than what the A31 offers, but we didn’t get any details. about its purpose or the exact modules used.. “

Samsung’s Next-Gen Fold Launched

Samsung has revealed the next smartphone in its portfolio. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is based on the latest revolutionary device, with an improved hinge, a larger cover, and a price tag of $ 2000. Dieter Bohn reports:

“The most notable update is on the outside: the screen you see when the Z Fold 2 is closed is now much larger than the original Fold. The so-called ‘cover screen’ is now 6.2 inches diagonally, taking up almost the entire in front of the device. Although it sounds like a very large screen, it is likely to be very narrow; the pixel dimensions are 2260 x 816. So, although it looks much more impressive than before, we will have to wait to use it to see if it is more usable “.

Multiple Pixel Models of Google Next Pixel

Thanks to the ever-reliable FCC, we have a few more details on the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5. Although Google announced them previously at the Pixel 4a launch, it was with ‘more details below’. Thanks to the FCC, we can establish that, unlike last month’s Pixel 4a with its only SKU, the FCC list includes multiple SKUs for both phones. Richard Gao reports:

“That means there are two trios here; G025E, G025I, and G025H are for Pixel 4a 5G (standard 4th has model number G025J). It’s fair to assume, then, that GD1YQ, GTT9Q, and G5NZ6 are for Pixel 5, especially since they have been tested for wireless charging. ”

Pixel 4a fights against the iPhone SE camera

This year has seen a renewed focus on the mid-range market, with brand makers pushing the $ 400 space. Apple’s iPhone SE is a key example, but Google’s expansion into the space with the Pixel 4A is also a big step. Of course, phones are undergoing a lot of “face-to-face” testing. Becca Farsace has the latest and takes advantage of every phone’s camera key:

“Shooting at night is what gives the Pixel its top edge, because the SE, well, it has no night mode at all. I’m still in awe of the Pixel’s Night View feature. There are times when the Pixel’s camera can see more of an object in the dark than I. But the iPhone just isn’t equipped with the software to make that happen, leaving photos dark and needing a brighter boost.

“While the Pixel wins overnight, the iPhone dominates in processing power. Inside the SE is Apple’s newest A13 chip, and it’s fast, as well as blazing fast. I could often see the Pixel’s Snapdragon 730G processor at work. pictures for a while after taking them. When it comes to how quickly you can open the camera app, take a photo, and then review it, the iPhone wins. “

OnePlus leak confirms OnePlus 8T

Hidden in the OnePlus developer preview of Oxygen OS running Android 11 is a curious image. With the file name OnePlus_8T.webp, we have a front profile of a new phone with a punch-hole selfie camera. Although the Nord has been released, it looks like the OnePlus 8 (and more than likely the OnePlus 8 Pro) will pick up the traditional Q4 update. Chaim Gartenberg reports:

“It is possible that this image, which is labeled OnePlus_8T.webp and is a separate file from the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro images, is simply a placeholder for a different final design of the OnePlus 8T.

“But given the timing of the leak (OnePlus generally releases its Fall T-series updates in the October-November range) and the fact that it was found in OnePlus’s own firmware update, it seems likely that this is the thing. which OnePlus 8T will look like, or at least what the front will look like. “

The latest RealMe hardware

Chinese smartphone maker realMe has released its latest pair of phones, the X7 and X7 Pro. Sagar Barke looks at the X7 Pro:

“The 7 Pro comes with a Super AMOLED panel. It’s a little smaller at 6.4”, but that should make the 7 Pro more compact and easier to hold. The screen resolution is FullHD +, but the refresh rate has been lowered from 90Hz to 60Hz. Realme tells us that this decision was made with feedback from its customers, who preferred a 60Hz AMOLED screen over a 90Hz LCD panel. As a bonus, we get an always-on display and an in-display fingerprint scanner on the 7 Pro instead of the side that came with its predecessor. “

And finally…

As manufacturers rush to roll out an under-display camera that matches the quality of a cutout or hole-in-the-hole-mounted camera, a video of Xiaomi’s effort has been leaked. Technically it looks like paper, although so far there has been no close public examination of the images obtained. Paul Monckton reports:

“Maintaining camera and display quality are two big challenges when developing an under-display camera. However, aside from the obvious lack of perforations in the new model, there seems to be little visible difference between the two displays other than one. small variation in brightness and color temperature. The video also makes it impossible to judge the quality of the new camera. A demo selfie is taken and the results look good, but no direct comparison is made with the current version “.
