If you’re a gamer, Ikea has a new line of affordable home furnishings just for you.

In collaboration with Asus Republic of Gamers (ROG), Ikea plans to launch 30 new products over the next year, starting in China in February and expanding to other countries in October 2021. It didn’t specify exactly what it plans to launch, jokingly. just a “new range of affordable and ergonomic gaming furniture and accessories designed to increase performance while blending beautifully into homes.”

The new products are being developed at the Ikea Product Development Center in Shanghai, where designers from Ikea and ROG have held workshops with professional gamers and game fans to get an idea of their accessory needs.

Ewa Rychert, Workspace Global Business Leader at Ikea, says the goal is to help people “accept and enable the benefits of games in life at home” and abandon stereotypes such as “games are based on violence, games are asocial and predominantly male activity. ”

Games are “a source of relaxation, independence, fun; through games, people develop skills in problem solving, teamwork and communication,” says Rychert. “Playing also provides a new way of connecting with others that has become even more important recently for feeling connected remotely.”

Ikea already has a few smart devices in its lineup, including the Ikea Sonos Symfonisk Table Lamp with WiFi Speaker and the Ikea Sonos Symfonisk WiFi Shelf Speaker, both of which are now available in blue and red.
