If you have to ask: AirPods Max aren’t for everyone

[ad_1]

Apple announced the AirPods Max last week and from now on they will be known as the earbuds that released 1,000 shots.

Always on the alert when an Apple product is not priced correctly, experts called it “ridiculously expensive” with a case that looks like a bra (tip of the antlers to @designheretic). The price has further inspired CNN Business to consider “The real cost of being the best Apple fan” (tip of the antlers for Rick) they say is $ 80,000 because if you don’t buy top of the line every product line Apple sends then you’re not “the latest Apple fan.”

Frankly, the Macalopes think they left something on the table by not insisting that the iPhone be the $ 6,000 Caviar “iPhone 12 Pro Jobs 4” that (somehow) contains a piece of Steve Jobs clothing. Are you a “definitive” fan or not? Have you achieved your final form?

All this effort to make being a user of an Apple product seem insanely expensive at a time when the entire low-end of Apple’s lineup (the iPhone SE, the 8th-gen iPad, and the M1-based Mac mini) They are offering a level of profitability that your competition can only dream of.

But are these headphones expensive? Well, they are too expensive for the Macalope. But that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re too expensive for what they are. The Macalope has taken one look at his home in the woods and noticed an unsurprising lack of Fabergé eggs, Lamborghinis, and those fancy indoor pools where you can swim forever without going anywhere.

Our ancestors think they are hilarious, by the way. “Ha, I had to swim past the waves to get food and my family might survive, but no, it’s great that you’re getting some exercise.”

This is not to say that the Macalope puts the AirPods Max on par with the Lamborghini. The Macalope doesn’t really know how good the AirPods Max are because they didn’t give it any to review. This is the problem with being a mythical creature. Nobody wants to send you stuff because the delivery options are very complicated and involve sitting on poisonous mushrooms for days or whispering in the crevice at the base of an ancient oak.

And Gary. Gary is Macalope’s intern and between you and me he’s not that trustworthy.

NOTHING, GARY. DO NOT TALK TO YOU.

Having not received a pair to review, the Macalope is not going to buy a pair either. So like everything out of your price range, you honestly have no idea how good they are. You just know that you are not prepared to spend that much money on audio products, no matter how good they are.

And that’s fine.

One expert insisted that Apple was making “a family mistake” (tip of the antlers again to @designheretic) by not shipping at least a cheaper version with a reduced feature set. Shipping a cheaper version is not an unreasonable suggestion, but if Apple’s strategy is wrong, it is not shown by the company’s estimate of how many they initially expected to sell. As of this writing, shipping times for all AirPods Max colors are 12 weeks or longer.

This may come as a shock to expert-class pearl lovers, but not all products have to be for everyone.
