Ian Wright received a lesson from Roy Keane after the former Arsenal striker showed up two minutes late for lunch with the Irishman.
Former Manchester United captain Keane is known for not taking loafers lightly throughout his playing career and it seems he has carried these values into his work as an expert.
And Wright, who now works alongside Keane covering England games and tournaments for ITV, learned this the hard way as the couple worked together covering the World Cup.
The Gunners arrived for lunch two minutes after the agreed time and were surprised to find that Keane, whom he believes to be the best Premier League captain, took the opportunity to showcase the standards he set as United’s captain.
“For me, he was the best captain in the Premier League,” Wright said in the BBC game of the day: the Top 10 podcast.

“What he introduced with the Class of ’92, with the great players around him, the consistency of his performances without compromising exactly what it was all about regarding the way he sees the game, its principles and his morale.”
“Honestly, I have so much admiration for Roy Keane. I have to say that we were together at the World Cup. [as pundits] and I was thinking, “OMG we are great buddies, okay.”
“And I remember there was a time when I asked Roy if he wanted to go to lunch, because we had breakfast and then we went to lunch.
“He said,” Okay, Wrighty. See you at 1:15 ’. I said, “No problem, I just have to go and do some things.” So I had to go and do that, I got there at 1:17, I was waiting in the lobby, I called and said, “Roy, okay, I’m here.” And he said, “Wrighty, 1:15 is 1:15, I’m not coming.”
“I laughed because I thought he was just playing but he said, ‘Wrighty, I’m not going.’ And he hung up the phone. And I never saw him until night.

“And as soon as I saw him, he made one of those cheeky smiles he got and said, ‘That’s why Man United was so successful, we did what we had to do on time, we did what we had to do.”
“And that’s what made me think with Roy Keane is that being under him, under his leadership as captain, would take nothing regarding failure.”
“What I like about Roy Keane and anyone who knows him or spends time with him obviously doesn’t suffer fools, but I’ve never seen anyone who loves soccer and talks about soccer as much as he does.”
“He will tell you about a player in League Two, a left back somewhere, he loves it. The fact is that when he is off camera he is just a very serious man, he is a serious guy, he is not dealing with nonsense.
“I can’t stop laughing when I’m in his presence, the way he turns people off and turns things off, it just makes me laugh all the time, I love being around him.”
