The Alexa voice assistant can now be used to automatically pay for gas every time you fill up.
The new feature works with Alexa running on your smartphone or the Echo Auto, the Alexa device designed specifically by Amazon for the in-car dash.

In addition to the Echo Auto and Alexa smartphone app (for iOS and Android), the feature also works with Each Buds earbuds, as well as a range of third-party products with Amazon’s built-in Alexa system. This includes Anker Roav Alexa devices, Garmin navigation systems with Alexa, and Nextbase dash cameras, also with Alexa.
Although the payment process is handled by Amazon Pay, no registration is required as it automatically uses the default credit card associated with your Amazon account. So whatever card you use to make purchases on Amazon will be used to pay for gas as you walk away from the pump.

To use the function, all you have to do is follow these instructions:
- Stop at a compatible Exxon or Mobil gas station pump
- Using Alexa on your smartphone or Alexa-enabled device, say, “Alexa, pay the gas.”
- Alexa will ask you to confirm which station you are on and say the pump number you will use
- Fuel up as usual, then drive
Alexa and Amazon Pay will automatically handle the payment for the amount of gas you pumped.
You can choose which fuel is at the pump as normal, and if you need a receipt, you can get it at the pump or at the cash desk inside the station.
To prevent someone else with access to your car from charging you for gas, you can set an optional voice code. This is the same code that is used for Alexa purchases, if you already have it set up. If not, open the Alexa app and head to Account Settings and then Voice Purchases to enable a four-digit voice code. You will then need to say this code every time you use Alexa to pay for fuel.
In order for Alexa to know which station you are in, location services on your smartphone must be turned on.
