When you explore the menu on PlayStation 5, the console plays a pleasant background melody. Unfortunately it’s always the same song, and if you spend a lot of time in the menus or leave the console on for a while, you’ll probably get tired of Sony’s little jingle pretty quickly.
Fortunately, if you get tired of the music on the PS5 menu, you can turn it off with a simple option in the console settings. To make this process easier, we’ve put together a step-by-step guide on how to turn off music from the PS5 menu.
First, navigate to the PlayStation 5 dashboard and select Settings (the gear icon at the top right of the screen – press the triangle to get there). Then scroll down to the Sound section and open it. You will see three options: Microphone, Audio Out, and Volume. Select Audio Out.
You will then need to scroll down the Audio Out menu until you see the General section of the page. At the top of the General section, you’ll find an option for Home Screen Music, which you can toggle with a switch. Flip it over and the music on the PlayStation 5 menu will disappear. (Note that this will also disable any menu music that plays while hovering over an individual game’s board tile.)
From that same menu, you can also disable the sound effects from the console menu, in case you want your PlayStation 5 to navigate completely silent.
