Some 1,000 high-ranking military officers and officials, who had been kidnapped by the TPLF board on November 4, were released in an operation carried out by the National Defense Force and the Federal Police.
The director general for indoctrination of the National Defense Force, Major General Mohammed Tessema, told ENA that the TPLF board had kidnapped some 1,000 senior military officers and officers of the Ethiopian Defense Force Northern Command after inviting them for dinner on November 4.
The fugitive TPLF junta has been running with their hostages for about a month until they were held in a place called Adet, which used to be a command base during armed fighting, he added.
However, in a joint military operation conducted by the National Defense Force and the Federal Police, senior officers and officers, including the Deputy Chief of Northern Command Operation, Brigadier General Adamneh Mengste were released without any harm.
The TPLF clique could not resist the military operation carried out by the defense force and police, Maj. Gen. Mohammed said, adding that the 1,000 officers and senior military officers have rejoined the army.
According to Major General Mohammed, the operation to hunt down, arrest and bring to justice the cliques of the TPLF junta has been reinforced by the defense force and the federal police.
