Gear of War fans will be happy to know that they should expect to receive a shiny new DLC much sooner than they thought.
Here are all the details.
Hivebusters
Developer The Coalition has confirmed in an interview with IGN that a new DLC will be coming to Gears 5, called Hivebusters.
Zoe Curnoe, who is the game’s main lead producer, said in the interview that, ‘All I can say is December and the title is Hivebusters’, which means this could be a fantastic holiday season ahead.
It is unknown when exactly in December the DLC will be released.
What’s in the DLC?
Details of what to expect are limited at the moment, however what is probably the most exciting aspect of the DLC is the opportunity to showcase some of the power of the Xbox Series X and Series S.
The interview continues to draw in Mike Rayner, who is the technical director of The Coalition, to expand more on what this DLC could bring to the table.
‘Global illumination’ and ‘ultra-res textures’ are examples he points to, leading us to believe that we will see impressive lighting and detail in the DLC.

Extra bonuses
Of course, it doesn’t look like you’ll be left hanging until December, and there are some fun bonuses for Gears fans ahead of the DLC release.
On the launch day of Xbox Series X and S, there will be two extra difficulty modes called Inconceivable and Ironman.
Ironman has permanent death in the campaign, so be careful!
You’ll also get a ton of new weapon skins, but one of the best features is that you can trade Marcus Fenix with Dave Bautista’s ‘Batista’!
For those of you who don’t know, Dave Bautista is a fighter-turned-actor who has appeared in movies like Guardians of the Galaxy, Specter, and many, many more.
We’re very excited to see how the Hivebusters DLC turns out, be sure to check back for the latest news.
