Hitman 3 is already profitable, IO Interactive announced.

The stealth game released last week immediately soared to the top of the UK charts and has recouped its development costs in less than seven days.

“We are very happy with the Hitman 3 journey,” says IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak.

“It has been a labor of love between our fans and everyone in the studio. As developers and publishers, we are immensely proud to say that Hitman 3 is already profitable. We have recovered full project costs in less than a week. That puts us in a really good place and allows us to confidently move forward with our ambitious plans for future projects. “

Hitman 3 is the first full game in the series that was self-released by the studio, and Abrak says GamesIndustry.biz that keeping marketing and PR close to the development team has been a huge benefit.

“We have been able to create a game that our players will love and take it with them in the most direct way possible – developed and published by IOI,” he tells us. “Having that approach from the beginning has kept us on a path we all believed in. Everyone in the studio was behind the vision of the game and knows the Hitman universe better than anyone.

“That combination makes us very effective as an editor because we have our creative and development teams working closely with publishing and marketing throughout the project. We need that collaboration because we all want to create a quality product.

“We demand from each other that our games be handcrafted, meticulously detailed and unique. At this point, we would be doing our community a disservice if we deliver anything less than that. They are used to us setting a very high bar for experiences. quality and memorable, so we keep that mentality at the forefront of our minds, not just for Hitman but also for our future projects. “
