Now that he’s finished playing “Captain America,” Chris Evans will take on another iconic role in the film: Buzz Lightyear.

Evans will voice the character of “Toy Story” in a new independent animated film, called “Lightyear,” according to Variety.

“I don’t even have the words,” Evans tweeted On Thursday, after Disney announced the new movie at its Investor Day presentation.

However, Evans clarified that the Buzz Lightyear in the movie would be different from the talking toy in the “Toy Story” movies, explaining in Twitter, “This is the origin story of the human Buzz Lightyear on which the toy is based.”

The creators of “Toy Story” designed the Buzz Lightyear character as if it were a toy based on a blockbuster movie, Pixar Creative Director Pete Docter said during Disney’s presentation Thursday, according to Entertainment Weekly. “Lightyear” will expand on that idea and follow Buzz as he transitions from a young test pilot to a Space Ranger.

In an Instagram post Thursday, Evans went into more detail about the upcoming film.

“Working with Pixar is a dream come true,” wrote Evans. “I have been a huge fan of your films from the beginning. My team could barely contain their excitement when they told me that Pixar had a proposal for me. All they said was ‘Buzz Lightyear’. I didn’t know what that meant, since Tim Allen is Buzz Lightyear, and no one could touch his performance. “

“Trust me when I tell you that they REALLY know what they’re doing there,” Evans continued. “This is going to be special, and it doesn’t step on anything. I can’t even express my emotion in words. I smile every time I think about it. “

“Lightyear” will hit theaters on June 17, 2022.
