The goalkeeper has left the club he joined in March 2019 and went on to get a starting position in 33 games
Harambee Stars goalkeeper Arnold Origi recalled some of his moments with HIFK Fotboll following confirmation of his departure.
The former Mathare United goalkeeper left the Finnish team after appearing with them for two seasons and has said that his feelings for the club cannot be explained in words.
“I have some news and the news is probably not that good for my fans, but the news is that this is the end of the train for me,” Origi said in a video broadcast on HIFK Fotboll.
“It has been an incredible two years and I can only thank the club and everyone who gave me the opportunity to come and be a part of this historic and passionate club.
“I am empty of words, you know that words cannot explain the energy, the rush and the adrenaline that I felt every moment I stepped onto the pitch to represent the club and the fans.
“We are proud that the fans were always here for us and that made us even more proud.”
The former Tusker goalkeeper joined the Helsinki club after his negotiations with Crystal Palace fell through in the final minutes and has now said he has no regrets about joining the team.
“I saw the passion and I thought there would be something for me and to be honest, I am happy that I followed my instincts and it was the right decision,” he added.
“I am very proud to have made the decision and you know that I have enjoyed each and every moment in which I have been a part and have played for the club.
“I would have liked to do more but last year it was a shame what happened with my injury but what I can say is that I leave this place with my head held high. I am very proud of what we have achieved in the last two years. “
When he leaves, the former Lillestrom SK goalkeeper is confident that HIFK Fotboll is now a very competitive team after years of hard work and passion to build it.
“We have established a team that can really fight and compete with anyone at the elite level of Finland,” concluded the Harambee Star.
“I had amazing coworkers, not just the players, the people in the office and those behind the scenes. We have been able to build something in the two years, a ground on which future successes can be built.
“It was an honor to have the star on my chest, to wear the colors and I loved the shirt because it is one that deserves respect.
“The best moments that winning the derby includes are memories that I will take with me wherever I go. Our paths will surely meet again and I wish them all the best. “
After being called up for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers between Kenya and Comoros next week, Origi is expected to be in camp soon.
