Government appoints ambassadors to Egypt, Lebanon

The government has appointed Md Monirul Islam as Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Arab Republic of Egypt, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He is currently serving as Bangladesh’s ambassador to Ethiopia and permanent representative to the African Union.

Monirul is a career foreign service official belonging to the tenth batch of the Foreign Affairs table of the Bangladesh Civil Service.

He also served as Bangladesh’s ambassador to Morocco and Bangladesh’s consul general in New York, the United States, among other diplomatic responsibilities in Singapore, Brunei, Spain, China, Canada and Brazil.

The government also appointed Major General Md Jahangir Al Mustahidur Rahman as the new Ambassador of Bangladesh to Lebanon.

He was commissioned into the Bangladesh Army in December 1986.

He has served as CEO of Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory Limited and President of the Bangladesh Tea Board.
