As we approach the end of this year, Google Hong Kong’s Year in Search 2020 has brought together different local and international headlines, people, and pop culture that Hong Kong people searched the most this year. Many Hong Kong residents also searched for the meanings of new slang, online slang and trending phrases, with the word ‘staycation’ being the most searched term on Google Hong Kong this year. Other trending phrases Hong Kongers searched for included ‘travel bubble’, ‘BLM’ (Black Lives Matter), and 見 字 飲水 (kin jee yum sui), which translates to ‘see this and drink water’, a phrase that comes from a meme created to remind others to drink water regularly and stay healthy.

It is also clear that Hong Kong people are obsessed with television dramas, such as five local drama series: Forensic Heroes IV (Forensic Heroes IV), Al Cappuccino (Anti-Magic), Airport Strikers (Airport Strikers), The dripping sauce (大 酱园), and Line Walker 3 (Apostle Walker 3)as well as K-dramas The world of the married and Forced landing on you, they were at the top of the list.
