Google Pixel 5 devices are starting to show a serious problem

The latest Pixel was officially released less than a month ago and it’s already starting to show what could be a big deal. Some early Google Pixel 5 buyers are starting to notice a gap between the phone’s frame and the screen, which could jeopardize the phone’s IP rating, and more.

The new Google Pixel 5 is already beginning to reach the homes of its new owners. Unfortunately, some of them report that their new devices come with a small gap between the display’s plastic bumper and the aluminum frame. Reports seem to vary, but the gap is generally in the area around the front camera. Customers express concern that this gap could affect the Google Pixel 5’s water and dust resistance.

The guys at Android Police have also experienced this issue with their device, which is in addition to a number of reports that are not necessarily large, but are steadily increasing. These reports can be found on the Pixel Phone product forum and the XDA forum with various examples of these gaps and how much they can vary in placement and spacing on these phones.

“We can confirm that our own Pixel 5 review unit is affected as well, albeit to a lesser degree than some of the ones shown above. Most reports show it in the corner closest to the screen camera cutout, at the top of the phone, and above the SIM tray on the left side, but it can appear in other areas as well. Although most of the images demonstrate the problem in the Just Black color scheme (probably because it is more visible with the stronger contrast), it also affects the Sage Green color. “

Only time will tell if these gaps affect the water resistance of the phone. Still, reports mention that cosmetic flaws have been around since the Google Pixel 5 was taken out of the box, and the displays don’t seem to separate over time. Hopefully, this issue is nothing more than a cosmetic flaw that won’t harm the phone’s performance or durability.
