In other words, those who installed the new update of the mobile operating system on their devices, be it Google Pixels or phones from other brands, encountered various problems that more or less rendered Android Auto unusable.
One of the critical bugs affecting the app makes it impossible to connect to Android Auto after installing Android 11, and Google finally acknowledged everything in a post on its forums a few hours ago.
Furthermore, the Mountain View-based search giant has also offered a workaround, explaining that the only way to do it in this case is to simply remove the pairing devices and start fresh with Android Auto in your car.
“If you have Android Auto connectivity issues on your car screen after updating your phone’s operating system to Android 11, please follow the steps below as a temporary solution while we work to resolve this issue.”Explains a member of the Android Auto team.
More specifically, what you need to do to apply this workaround is head to the settings screen on the Android 11 device and search Android Auto. Expand the Android Auto Menu and touch the option called Previously connected cars. Then click on the three point menu in the upper right corner and select the option that says Forget all the cars.
Doing this would remove your car from the list, so you will then have to pair the head unit and Android 11 device again to get everything back to normal.
Google will most likely include a complete fix in a future version of Android Auto as well, but for now, no information is available on the ETA. What we do know, however, is that a new update is expected in the next few days anyway.
