Google mobile search is renewed for the new year

Google knows that your eyes need a break.

The data-hungry giant announced on Friday an upcoming redesign of its mobile search page that, among other changes, will include larger, bolder text. The shocking premise is that the change, in addition to several others featured in a Google press release, will make Google’s mobile search easier to use.

“One way the team [made text easier to read] it was by using larger and bolder text, so the human eye can scan and understand search results faster, “Google’s announcement explains.

Big text for a big whale.

Sparkly.

According to Google designer Aileen Chen, who led the redesign, this change won’t be limited to just the results section.

“We are also making the section titles and results bigger,” Aileen explained.

Running towards boldness.

Other changes include: a “new edge-to-edge results layout,” “centering content and images on a clean background,” and “rounded images and icons.”

The changes are scheduled to affect user phones “in the coming days,” so keep an eye out for that new look.
