Two weeks after announcing the free availability of Google Meet, Google said Tuesday that the deployment is complete. The video conferencing tool, initially created for the company, is now available to anyone at meet.google.com or iOS or Android.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Google has seen great interest in its video conferencing tools. In March, the company made the advanced features of Meet free for G Suite users and has since seen daily usage grow 30-fold, adding nearly 3 million new users per day last month. In addition to expanding access to the tool, Google has tried to capitalize on the current situation by increasing support for Meet, adding new features and making it accessible directly from Gmail.
