But when it comes to Samsung Galaxy S20 owners, the GPS-related glitches have been more or less isolated so far, however a recent update seems to make the whole thing a bit more widespread these days.
I see more and more people complaining about a bad experience with Google Maps and Waze, and in some cases the problems are related to the GPS connection.
While Samsung has been completely silent until now, users who took to the company’s forums explain that Google Maps just freezes after the latest software update was installed on the Galaxy S20.
“It happens on both my S20 Plus and my wife’s S20, and it’s incredibly frustrating. It seems to be happening more often lately and it causes some awkward / dangerous situations when driving. Unacceptable for such expensive phones,”Says someone on the Samsung forums.
Neither solution seems to get things back to normal, although some users claim that restarting their phones and then relaunching Google Maps fixes the app temporarily. In fact, this seems to suggest that it is a GPS problem, with most users claiming that it has been around for about a week.
“Closing all background apps including maps doesn’t seem to work either. Restarting my phone works sometimes, mainly after two reboots. It’s frustrating when I’m in the middle of nowhere and maps choose to act like this. It happened yesterday when I was in an unknown area and I lost a couple of laps,”Someone explains.
It remains to be seen if Samsung offers a solution, but for now, if you didn’t install the latest version of the Galaxy S20 and Google Maps is working fine, it might be a good idea to withhold the update until South Koreans figure out what’s going on.
