Google Maps is arguably the best maps and navigation app. Over the years, the search giant has updated it with new features and functionality. Currently, the company is rolling out a server-side update for certain users, which enables a new user interface in car mode.
The Mountain View tech giant already offers a dedicated app called Android Auto for cars. Last year, the company revealed that it will be replaced by Google Assistant driving mode, however, that is yet to happen.
Before that, the company is now seeding a server-side update that enables a similar car-mode user interface. google maps itself. This mode comes after the addition of the music playback option in June.
This feature was first reported by Android Police And based on the screenshots shared by the post, we can see that users will be treated with large icons for calls, messages, music apps, and messaging apps.
These icons are larger so users can focus more on their driving than on their phone. In total, there are three tabs: one for voice, one for the home screen with the aforementioned suite of apps, and a Maps icon for selecting navigation.
That said, as we mentioned at the beginning. This mode is sent to random users through the server. Therefore, it may take time to reach all of them.
