Leaker Abhishek Yadav has detected a Samsung phone on the Geekbench benchmarking platform. The phone bears the model number SGH-N378 and works with the Snapdragon 750G, which implies that it is Ready for 5G.
The benchmarking website has also revealed that the chip will be paired with the Adreno 619 GPU and 6GB of RAM. According to the listing, the phone in question will run Android 11.
The recently released Galaxy A42 5G is also backed by the Snapdragon 750G, and the rumored Galaxy A52 5G is also expected to have the same chip under the hood.
So is the model number SGH-N378 related to the Galaxy A52? Well, not necessarily.
The SGH-N378 could be part of a completely new range
People with eagle eyes on GSM Arena notes that the model number SGH-N378 follows the same pattern as previous Samsung models, and this convention was dropped after 2013. The website notes that the identifier is’ different from SM-A426B and SM-A426B from the Galaxy A42 5G / DS.
If you’re going to pass another Geekbench listing, the Galaxy A52 5G has the model number SM-A526B, which lines up nicely with the SM-A516B identifier on the Galaxy A51 5G.
Could the South Korean giant be planning to add a new Galaxy series to its portfolio? It’s hard to imagine that possibility, given that the chaebol already has so many smartphone lines. It recently introduced the Galaxy F series and also adopted the nickname Galaxy Z for its foldable phones.
So the misplaced model number is unlikely to point to a new range of devices, and presumably refers to the Galaxy A52.
The midranger will reportedly feature a Quad-camera setup with a 64MP main camera and 8-megapixel macro lens, and it will come in the colors white, black, blue and orange. Samsung is expected to announce the phone next month.
