Galaxy S21 + renders cementing strange new design

It seems that Samsung has lately been targeting the wow factor rather than the wow factor when designing its smartphones. The Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 had a particular design that at least had people talking, although not always favorably. The Galaxy S21 is shaping up to be no different, at least based on unofficial 3D renders. Now a third set of images has appeared for what is said to be the Galaxy S21 +, further “confirming” what next year’s initial trio would look like.

The Galaxy S20 series, particularly the Galaxy S20 Ultra, was marked by a fairly large camera bump that turned out to be very divisive in terms of design. That said, other manufacturers were soon “inspired” by it, even if it wasn’t as popular. Now it seems that Samsung has settled on a new design that is unique but also strange at the same time.

Some call it a “wrap-around” camera design, as the bulge completely wraps around the side edge of the phone, covering an even larger area than if it were just a bulge. It somehow looks good on a Galaxy S21 with a single column of cameras, but it looks comically huge on the Galaxy S21 Ultra. Whether that actually helps stabilize the phone when placed on a flat surface remains to be seen.

MySmartPrice got some RAW CAD renders for the Galaxy S21 + or S21 Plus and they look almost exactly like the leaked Galaxy S21. That’s no surprise given that the Galaxy S20 + also looked like the Galaxy S20. In fact, next year’s pair might differ only in size.

That means that both the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 + can sport the same flat screen instead of the curves previously marked by Samsung’s flagships. With a rumored release in late January 2021, it may not be long before we get more substantial leaks to work with.
