Galaxy S20 FE reported to have touchscreen issues

The Galaxy S20 Fan Edition was designed to save the name of the Galaxy S20. Samsung’s premium flagship in early 2020 was marred by seemingly excessive features and excessive pricing. Of course, Samsung is expected to make some cuts to achieve the phone’s lightest price, but buyers may get more than they bargained for if these reported touchscreen issues plaguing some owners turn out to be a more pervasive case.

Samsung is famous for the display quality of its phones and that applies even to low-end mid-range phones. Of course, that doesn’t immediately translate to the quality of the touchscreen, but these displays have rarely been reported to exhibit erratic behavior. Definitely not one of Samsung’s more expensive flagships like the Galaxy S20 series.

And yet, that’s what some Galaxy S20 FE owners are now reporting on the Reddit and Samsung forums. Misbehaviors include missing or delayed responses to touch, “ghost” touches, and others. There doesn’t seem to be any consistent pattern other than that they are all inconsistent and vary from user to user.

The 9to5Google unit itself exhibited the strange behavior and Samsung appears to be unaware of the reports. It is true that the number of affected users is small, but there are enough to warrant a deeper look. As it stands, these reports may make would-be buyers wary of investing in the Galaxy S20 FE so early in the game.

That would be a shame though, given that this Fan Edition phone almost offers the perfect balance of price and features. There is also the Galaxy A71 5G, which has been tested in the market for a few months, but the difference in features may be too wide on a closer inspection.
