UPDATE: Fortnite Update 14.30 server downtime has started on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Android.
The offline server downtime is expected to last a couple of hours, which means that the game will be back online at 11am BST.
ORIGINAL: Epic Games, developer of Fortnite, has released a new update for PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
Fortnite Update 14.30 fixes a host of issues in Battle Royale, Mobile, Creative, and Save the World.
It’s also likely to introduce new features to the game, including map changes, new bosses, and more. Express Online will have the full list of patch notes when the update is released.
Unfortunately, however, because this is a numbered update and not just a patch, patch 14.30 will coincide with a period of server downtime.
The Fortnite servers will go offline at 9am BST for fans in the UK. Players are generally unable to join games for around 30 minutes before downtime, before everyone is kicked out at 9am.
There is no official end time for server maintenance, but it usually stays offline for a couple of hours.
“Attention heroes and villains!” read a tweet from Epic Games.
“Version 14.30 is scheduled to release tomorrow, October 13. The patch downtime will begin at 4 am ET (08:00 UTC).”
Maybe we’re stretching it here, but the “Heads Up” in the tweet may be hinting at the appearance of Galactus.
The Eater of Worlds has been used in marketing materials for Season 4, so an appearance is inevitable, it’s just a matter of when.
The Marvel supervillain has already sent Gatherer drones to Fortnite Island, while the Silver Surfer appeared at the beginning of the season.
If it’s not Galactus, fans can expect another Marvel character to appear as the boss, following characters like Doctor Doom, Iron Man, and Wolverine.
It’s safe to assume that the map will be updated with a new area or two, and we wouldn’t be surprised if a new weapon joins the game.
Fortnite update 14.30 will also add the next wave of challenges to the game, as well as new skins and store items.
According to the patch notes below, the impending Fortnite update also fixes an audio issue with the Last Forever emote. That is in addition to fixes for map marker issues and much more.
