Fortnite introduces improved ray tracing graphics on September 17

FortniteYou will be getting a graphics update soon, at least for some players. On September 17, Nvidia will release a full suite of new graphics updates primarily focused on real-time ray tracing.

Real-time ray tracing is one of the hallmarks of Nvidia’s RTX line of cards, as well as upcoming graphics cards from AMD. New features include ray-traced reflections with glossy glass surfaces that will show what’s behind you in real time, ray-traced shadows for more realistic darkness and detailed shadows, and a host of other lighting enhancements.

Nvidia has even created a Fortnite map called RTX Treasure Run. This map is designed with the help of members of the Fortnite Creative community to allow players to hunt for treasures in an environment designed to showcase some of the ray tracing features in real time.

To make use of all FortniteWith the new updates from Nvidia, gamers will need to have a graphics card that supports real-time ray tracing. This includes Nvidia’s RTX line, from the Geforce 2060 to the Geforce 2080 Ti, and continues through the recently announced Geforce 3070, 3080 and 3090. Some of Nvidia’s older GTX cards are also capable of software ray tracing. , but Nvidia suggests sticking with RTX cards. AMD will also have its own line of new graphics cards capable of real-time ray tracing sometime in the near future.
