As of April 27, the confirmed number of deaths from coronavirus on the continent was 1,428, with fatalities, including the former president of the Republic of Congo Jacques Joachim Yhombi-Opango and former Prime Minister of Somalia Nur Hassan Hussein. There are 32,182 confirmed infections and 9,741 recoveries, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Africa.
