Final Fantasy 16 presents its 6 kingdoms

Square Enix has detailed the six kingdoms of the world of Valisthea from Final Fantasy 16, giving us more information about the game’s settings.

As we learned from the game’s teaser website, Valisthea is a land “dotted with colossal mountains of shining crystal called Mothercrystals.” These Mother Crystals provide ether to the people of Valisthea, and wars have been fought for ownership of this powerful resource. This has divided the kingdom into warring states, each with its own quirks and characters. It’s very Game of Thrones.

Five of the nations have a ‘Dominant’, a special person imbued with the transformative power of an Eikon, a special summons that “can level nations.” Depending on the nation, a Dominant can be seen as royalty or a force to fear. Here’s more information on the six kingdoms of Valisthea in Final Fantasy 16. You can see all of the kingdom’s flags on the Final Fantasy 16 teaser website.

The Grand Duchy of Rosaria

Rosaria is a nation made up of “small independent provinces in western Valisthea”, and is where the game’s protagonist, Clive Rosfield, comes from. His brother Joshua Rosfield is the Ruler of the kingdom, powered by the Eikon of Fire, a great Phoenix. The kingdom’s Mothercrystal is called Drake’s Breath and is located on a volcanic island off the coast. Rosaria’s prosperity has been affected by something called “the Ruin,” which threatens to bring the kingdom to its knees.

The Holy Empire of Sanbreque

Sanbreque is a theocracy ruled by a “Holy Emperor” who is worshiped as a living manifestation of God. The capital of Sanbreque is Oriflamme, which is actually built on the Drake Head Mother Crystal that supplies the kingdom with its all-important ether. The Ruler of the kingdom “serves as the champion of the empire” and is known to “defeat his enemies” on the battlefield.

The Kingdom of Waloed

Waloed is based in the eastern part of Valisthea, an area known simply as “Ash.” The orcs and beastmen threaten to overthrow the Waloed government, but the Ruler and ruler of the kingdom has used the power of Drake’s Thorn Mother Crystal to create “a mighty army” to stop them in their tracks and seek expansion beyond. from Ash’s borders.

The Dhalmekian Republic

The Dhalmekian Republic is governed by a parliament made up of representatives from five states in southern Valisthea. The area draws its powers from Drake’s mother crystal Fang, which is hidden in a mountain range. The Area Dom is a “special advisor” to the republic’s parliament and channels the power of Titan, the Eikon of Earth.

The Iron Kingdom

Comprised of offshore islands in western Valisthea, the Iron Kingdom is ruled by an “extreme faith” called the orthodox crystallines, who worship mother crystals. The Kingdom is often in conflict with Rosaria over Drake’s Breath Mother Crystal, which is found “in the heart” of one of the kingdom’s islands and provides both nations with their power. Its inhabitants are known as Iron Bloods who are isolated from the continent, speak their own language and treat the dominant as “impious abominations” who are executed at birth.

The crystalline domain

At the heart of Valisthea is The Crystalline Dominion, which is built around a tall mother crystal known as Drake’s Tail. The five kingdoms used to fight for control of the crystal, but an armistice was reached that left the area autonomous and controlled by a council with input from every state, except the Kingdom of Iron. As such, the area does not have its own Dominant.
