A day after his arrest in the capital, Feteh Magazine’s main producer and owner, Temesgen Desalegn, was released on Thursday.

His younger brother, Tariku Desalegn, confirmed this morning that Temesgen was released from the Addis Ababa police commission where he was taken after eight police officers detained him in his office on Wednesday.

Temesgen was arrested together with Misganaw Zinabe, the producer of Feteh Magazine, and the latter is confirmed to be at large as well.

Citizen reports on social media on Wednesday said Temesgen was arrested in connection with a report published in Feteh magazine.

The story was reportedly about the bank account of Addis Ababa mayor Adanech Abeibei. It was said that 40 million Ethiopian birr were found in his account.

The federal government’s Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission had been asking government authorities to register their assets as part of “the fight against corruption.” However, around 30 state ministers have yet to register their assets and the commission is threatening a lawsuit.
