A teammate from Valencia’s Ferran Torres team has urged the winger to remain at Mestalla despite rumors of interest from clubs like Liverpool.
Left back José Luis Gaya, who recently admitted he rejected Real Madrid, said he expects the 21-year-old to stay with the La Liga team.
This comes after clubs like Liverpool have been linked to a move for the much-loved Torres this summer.
The Spanish said to Movistar: “I lived [through speculation] and it was clear that he wanted to continue [at Valencia].
“I’m not in Ferran’s head, but I hope he continues with us.”
Speculation about Torres’ future was sparked earlier this week when Valencia legend Fernando suggested that the young man would fit in perfectly with Liverpool.
He told Tribal Football: “Ferran Torres is a great player. He has emerged very young and that is proof of his maturity.”
“He is skilled, he is great one on one, he is fast and he even scores goals.”
“He also plays indoors, takes advantage of spaces and can be part of a team that plays on the counter attack or a dominant team in terms of possession.”
“He can perform well on any team and in any league. In England too, of course, in Liverpool or any other team.”
