When a game becomes particularly popular, cheating is inevitable. With over 7 million Steam sales and counting, Fall Guys has unsurprisingly attracted many tricks and tricks, and is starting to affect players’ enjoyment of the game.
Fall Guys Mediatonic Developer promised In early August he was working on a fix, and now we know what it is: the company plans to release a “BIG update” in the next two weeks that “adds the same anti-cheat that games like Fortnite use.”
We are very sorry about the cheating problem! We’re expanding the current detection system this week to make things better We also have a BIG update in the coming weeks that adds the same anti-cheat used by games like Fortnite Thanks for supporting us![Not BeanBot]September 6, 2020
Fortnite developer Epic Games, famous for their free game giveaways, bought Kamu in 2018, a Helsinki-based company that created the Easy Anti-Cheat service. Kamu currently lists 124 PC games on his website that use his anti-cheat software, and it looks like Fall Guys will soon be added to that number.
Assuming Easy Anti-Cheat works the same way it does with Fortnite, you will be prompted to install an EAC patch and you will not be able to play until it detects the software on your computer.
Until then, Mediatonic says it will expand its current “detection system” to catch cheaters during play. This detection software kicks cheats at the end of the round after they use a cheat, and Mediatonic tweeted that this system has already reduced the number of successful cheats.
But it’s also true that many hackers go unnoticed, much to the frustration of the other 59 players.
A prominent example occurred during Fallmania, an unofficial $ 5,000 Fall Guys tournament in late August. During the final round, the announcers groaned as a hacker crossed the stage wondering aloud if the four finalists had any chance of winning the crown now. The cheater survived several rounds, without being ejected from the game, before being eliminated during a team game, when his teammates refused to play.

Until the Anti-Cheat patch is added, team games are the only remedy in the game for players against cheaters, and Mediatonic said the same in a recent tweet. They encourage players with cheats in their squad to refuse to play in order to eliminate the cheater. While effective, it is also frustrating for these players to have to give up their chance to win, because they had the misfortune of being paired with a cheater.
Hopefully, the tools that keep Fortnite relatively hacking-free will help clean up the final battle royale to take over the world.
