Fall Guys had a secret cheat island where it put players who misbehaved

Fall boys is one of the most popular games in the world right now, and a game that has reached such a level of recognition will undoubtedly attract some unsavory people. We normally hear about cheats that plague free games where there are no real consequences for getting banned (it’s not like they are losing the money they paid for the game after all), but it seems that even Fall boysThe starting price of $ 20 is also not enough to deter people from cheating to try and rack up wins.

In a very long Twitter thread today, Fall boys Developer Mediatonic Games detailed how it handled cheaters in the game’s early days and weeks. You might think that cheaters were simply banned for their crimes, but you’d be wrong. Instead, Mediatonic created a special “cheat island” that paired cheats with other cheats and let them go berserk, isolating the rest of the non-cheat player base.

At first, there weren’t enough confirmed cheats to populate a game on Cheater Island while Mediatonic worked to refine its detection tools. With those players separated from the rest of the player base, many of them ended up dropping infinitely when queuing for a match, at least until the Mediatonic software could find enough cheats to fill a game. So in the early days of Fall boys‘existence, if you saw someone complain about falling forever after queuing for a match, it’s likely (though not certain) that it was a cheater who had been caught.

In fact, it wasn’t until last week that the first Cheater Island game took place. Unfortunately, Cheater Island is not a kind of permanent fix as this entire thread was written to announce an incoming update called Big Yeetus and Anti-Cheatus. The Big Yeetus part will be explained later, Mediatonic says, while the Anti-Cheatus part of the update references integration with Epic’s anti-cheat tools.

With the imminent arrival of Epic’s anti-cheat software, Cheater Island has been officially closed and now cheats simply cannot log into the game. We’ll let you know when more information about the Big Yeetus and Anti-Cheatus update is shared, so stay tuned.
