Facebook does not answer why it is restricting the exchange of news on the borkena fan page.

Facebook has been restricting the contents of the Ethiopian news portal borkena since the Ethiopian government launched a police operation in Ethiopia’s Tigray region. We would like to make it clear to readers that borkena is not affiliated with the Ethiopian government or any private business entity.
The cause of borkena has always been Ethiopia and will continue to be. Aside from the submission of dedicated Ethiopians and patriots in the OpEd section, borkena has been a one-handed effort for the past eight years. The editor has been doing it while maintaining the hassle of a full-time job (not a career), out of sheer commitment to the Ethiopian cause. We are living through a promising chapter in the history of Ethiopia. TPLF was perhaps one of the biggest problems Ethiopia has ever faced in its entire history. Worse still, the problem that TPLF created won’t go away right away.
And the fight for Ethiopia is far from over. A considerable part of the struggle occurs in the cybermedia. We could make borkena relevant in that regard.
The excuse for blocking the content sharing feature on the borkena fan page is “violation of community rules”. We have reached out to the Facebook team to seek an explanation to no avail. The content shared on the fan page is usually content related to Ethiopian news. No hateful messages, profanity or pornographic content that causes harm is shared on the fan page. The action of Facebook has apparently affected the visibility of the page and the distribution of content of borkena.
Sometimes we are allowed to share news content. Sometimes two content. At other times, sharing content is not allowed at all for twenty-four hours.
The fan page is set up as a news and publishing medium so that it is not confused with the “community page”. Timing is important for sharing news content, and it’s been frustrating with Facebook’s relentless restrictions.
However, so far, there are no restrictions for readers to share content directly from the borkena page. Until Facebook solves the problem, we request the support of the borkena audience to share content from the borkena site directly. That feature is not blocked and we’ve turned on social sharing features at both the top and bottom of posts.
Your support is greatly appreciated
