13:57
Lap 23/55: Sure enough, Leclerc enters the pits and exits from behind. Hamilton is starting to get closer to Bottas in the fight for position with his teammate, it’s about 1.5 seconds right now. But Verstappen is five seconds ahead and looks comfortable.
13:55
Lap 22/55: A bit of mid-race calm at the moment. Leclerc is sliding further back, now past Ocon to drop to twelfth. You will surely need a tire change soon. Although his teammate Vettel is well placed to sign with points
13:51
Lap 19/55: Going back and forth between Stroll, Leclerc and Gasly in ninth place is a good watch, but this is what it looks like: 1 Verstappen 2 Bottas 3 Hamilton 4 Albon 5 Ricciardo 6 Norris

Lap 12/55: Phew. Time for a recap: 1 Verstappen 2 Bottas 3 Hamilton 4 Albon 5 Ricciardo 6 Norris 7 Vettel 8 Leclerc 9 Sainz 10 Stroll. The Mercedes, unlike most, have yet to pit, nor has Ricciardo, but Vettel is having fun with the look.
Hamilton is also a bit restless. “The car just won’t turn,” he says over the radio.

Lap 11/55: In fact, the top four pitted there, just like halfway through the race, and now the full safety car is out because they haven’t been able to get Perez’s car off the track. There are also suspicions of oil on the track.

Verstappen and Bottas make an early pit stop, and Hamilton joins them, moving to medium compounds.

Perez out of the race!
Lap 10/55: A mechanical annoyance for Pérez, the winner of the last race, who stops in his last race at Racing Point. He looks devastated, if his gestures are correct. Verstappen still leads.

Lap 6/55: Red Bull seems to have a power advantage here, although there is still a long way to go. In the back, Russell has been overtaken by Perez as Albon advances to fourth place in that intriguing battle with Norris.
13:23
Lap 5/55: Verstappen has not been wrong so far, he did well early on, established a healthy lead down the fastball and kept his pursuers at a decent distance. Lead for 2.5 seconds now

Preamble
Late everyone. Only once in the last eight years has the final grand prix of the season had the drivers’ title at stake, when Nico Rosberg held off Lewis Hamilton to clinch the championship in 2016, all of which has tended to put the race in gear. Abu Dhabi an advantage. a slight vibration of Oval-Ashes-Test-in-the-90s, an almost perpetual dead rubber. Such is Hamilton’s supremacy, seeming to take hold more each year, that lately the fate of the world title has been comfortably determined at this point.
But that doesn’t mean we don’t have a race worth watching this afternoon. Max Verstappen, who took pole yesterday, gives us an attractive appearance at the front of the grid and raised Red Bull and Verstappen’s hopes of a second win of the season to build on their success at the 70th anniversary GP at Silverstone in August. And last week’s race, with his first win for Sergio Perez and his frustrated George Russell heroics, was a bit of fun too.
Meanwhile, Hamilton has ascended to new heights in this strangest year, and while he will have to deal with the post-Covid daze today, nothing can be ruled out of him after a year in which he has transcended his sport, in and out. . the track, to the point that even many non-oil fans wouldn’t envy him a Sports Personality of the Year award next week.
Lights off 1:10 pm!
