With just a few weeks before the PlayStation 5 arrives on November 19, Sony has explained how backward compatibility of PS4 games will work with the new console.
The good news is that the “overwhelming majority” of the more than 4,000 games made for the PS4 will work on the PS5. However, there are some titles that don’t work at all, and Sony cautioned that some games may “display bugs or unexpected behavior” when played on the new console.

So far, Sony has published a list of 10 games that will not work on PlayStation 5, but adds that the list “is subject to change and excludes demos, media, and non-game applications.”
These games are:

Sony also explains: “Although many OS4 games can be played on PS5 consoles, some features that were available on the PS4 console may not be available on PS5 consoles. Also, some PS4 games may exhibit errors or unexpected behavior when played. they play on PS5 consoles. “
The company suggests that PS4 game owners test them out on their new PS5 and make sure they are “happy with the gaming experience” before purchasing additional content for those games.
It’s not all bad news though, as select PS4 games will look better on the PS5, thanks to the new console’s Game Boost system, which makes older games run at a higher or higher frame rate. more fluid. Gamers will also be delighted to know that PS4 accessories like PlayStation VR headsets, racing wheels, and flight sticks will work on the new console.
Sony also asks gamers to use their DualShock 4 controller (the one that came with the PS4) when playing PS4 games on the PS5. The new console’s DualSense controller is not fully compatible with all PS4 games, and the old DualShock 4 controller does not work with PS5 games.
