Expert explains: Are there aliens on the moon?

So far, countries like the US, China, India, and Japan have conducted lunar scans. Its orbiters carried out very detailed studies of the moon, but no alien bases have been found, so “I don’t think there are aliens on the moon,” said Yang Yuguang, vice chairman of the International Astronautical Federation’s Space Transportation Committee. , during a live interview with CGTN on Saturday.

“We can confirm that there are no intelligent life forms outside of Earth. But it is possible to have very low-level life forms, such as germs, bacteria, on other celestial bodies,” Yang said.

He also assumed that the great distance in space could be the biggest obstacle for humans to encounter an alien.

“If we do not take a leap in basic theories and recognition of the universe, we will not have the opportunity to visit even the nearest star. Because the most powerful currently is the power of fusion, which cannot support interstellar travel.”

China’s new ‘three steps’

Since the Chang’e-5 mission has completed China’s three-step lunar exploration program of “orbit, land and return,” the country now presents “three new steps” for the upcoming lunar exploration missions, namely, topography, construction and utilization.

Topography refers to getting more information about the site where humans hope to have a lunar base in the future. “It’s actually in the south pole region,” Yang said.

The distinctive environmental conditions in the South Pole region make it a hot spot for all countries, Yang said. In addition to water ice in shady areas, the region also has areas of permanent sunlight, making it easy to design thermal control and spacecraft to harvest energy.

Construction means building a certain infrastructure capacity. Utilization refers to the use of extraterrestrial resources such as water.

Space technology far from life?

“We cannot live a modern life without space technology,” Yang said. “Turn off all the satellites in the sky and you will see the importance.”

Space technology has already permeated people’s daily lives.

Navigation software and geographic information help people to go to destinations, while the former is based on navigation satellites and the latter is based on photos and images from Earth observation satellites.

People watch television programs with signals transmitted by satellites. Many materials, including medicine, are based on rocket science as they “help scientists understand principles and theories in drug manufacturing.”

In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, Yang hoped that “maybe in the future we can have such studies on COVID-19 vaccines in the laboratories of the International Space Station or the China Space Station.”

In the long term, humans have to find an alien residence to survive, Yang said.

Human civilization has a short history of 6,000 years, compared to the approximately 4.6 billion years of history of the solar system.

According to astronomical theories, the sun is in its middle age, which is currently called a yellow dwarf, but it will expand into a red giant that will swallow planets including Earth.

“If human beings still exist at that time, we must migrate to other places to survive,” Yang said. “Sooner or later, we will have to leave Earth. We must prepare for that.”
