Everything Apple didn’t announce at its November event

[ad_1]

Apple launched its first Apple Silicon M1-powered Macs at its “One more thing” event in November. The new MacBooks and Mac mini look pretty impressive and the main macOS Big Sur update also debuted this week. However, there are a number of attractive Apple products that are still behind the scenes. Here’s everything Apple didn’t announce at its November Apple Silicon Mac event.

The “One More Thing” event was Apple’s third since September. And after several accessories and other anticipated products were not released during the Apple Watch / iPad event or the iPhone 12 event, there was hope that we might see some of them landing alongside the new Macs on November 10.

Turns out, the Apple Silicon event was kept short at 45 minutes and didn’t include any announcements or introductions beyond the new M1-powered Macs and the macOS Big Sur launch on November 12.

AirTags

AirTags are coming soon

In April 2019, 9to5Mac exclusively reported that Apple was working on a tracking device similar to Tile. We later found out that he was using the AirTag name for the product. In April this year, Apple accidentally revealed the AirTags name in a support video on YouTube before quickly removing it.

It’s been a long way to see AirTags arrive and the November event came and went without a launch. This may be a case where Apple experiences unexpected delays.

Earlier in the year, Ming-Chi Kuo set a third quarter release for this new product. Then in early October we saw Jon Prosser predict that the AirTags launch was delayed until March 2021, but then he said just before the iPhone 12 event. that were programmed to launch with iOS 14.3 in November. The L0vetodream high-precision filter also predicted on October 20 that they would “be coming soon” in two sizes.

By aligning ourselves with Prosser and L0vetodream, we’ve just found more evidence that AirTags is ready to go with iOS 14.3, which Apple just released as a beta. We were able to discover more details about the setup process.

This is some of what we discovered:

Users can play sound alerts and also link an AirTag to an Apple ID, so it won’t work with another ID if someone else finds it. “Removing this item will allow someone else to configure and use it and it will no longer be linked to your Apple ID,” the code says. Apple will also provide an easy way for others to scan AirTags and find out who owns the lost item.

Time will tell, but we could see the launch of this new Apple product in no time.

AirPods Studio

The icons for Apple’s upcoming on-ear headphones were first discovered by 9to5Mac in March in an earlier version of iOS 14. Since then, we’ve heard more details about what’s to come in the upcoming release of the popular AirPods line.

In April, Bloomberg reported that they will come with interchangeable magnetic ear cushions and headband and should be released sometime this year. Ming-Chi Kuo also predicted a unique magnetic design with production beginning in “mid 2020”.

In May, 9to5Mac heard from various sources that Apple’s new on-ear headphones will feature left / right ear, head and neck detection along with custom EQ settings. Meanwhile, Jon Prosser said the name will be AirPods Studio priced at $ 349.

Fast forward to September and we got a supposed first real-world look at AirPods Studio’s “Sport” version of the choco_bit leaker. And the image aligned with the description Bloomberg previously shared in April.

“The headphone prototypes have a retro look with rotating oval ear cups and a headband connected by thin metal arms.”

In October, Prosser said that AirPods Studio was facing a “big problem” in production and that it would be “December AT BEST” before launch. He also stated that “the key features have now been removed.”

Bloomberg followed up shortly after corroborating that production was delayed due to a problem with the headband.

In fact, there were no AirPods Studio at any of this fall’s events, yet 9to5Mac made an exciting discovery in the iOS 14.3 beta of a detailed icon (shown above) that matches the previous descriptions and the leak. that we have seen.

Apple tv

The Apple TV 4K launched in 2017, has an A10X Fusion processor, and is still the company’s flagship set-top box three years later. We found clues earlier this year about a new Apple TV that could have an A12 or A13 chip, as well as a new remote. Bloomberg then corroborated our findings in August.

However, there is no mention of an Apple TV hardware update at the November event. In the meantime, we’re seeing useful new features, like the ability to use HomePods as permanent Apple TV speakers with Dolby Atmos support.

Whenever we look at the next-gen Apple TV, a price drop could go a long way in helping Apple rebound from competitors like Roku and Amazon Fire TV.

Fitness +

Apple Fitness + release date

Apple announced its new Fitness + training service at its September event. When the Apple One bundle service launched on October 30, we received a brief mention of Fitness + from Apple that would arrive before the end of the year.

Apple’s November Mac event passed without further details on when Fitness + will launch. But given that Apple promised to debut before the end of the year, that is likely to happen with a press release in the next few weeks.

16-inch MacBook Pro M1 and redesigned iMac

A 16-inch MacBook Pro M1 that was missing from the November presentation wasn’t a surprise, but it certainly was a disappointment for some. A week before the event, Bloomberg reported that the 16-inch M1-powered MacBook Pro lagged further in production than the 13-inch version and the MacBook Air.

Expectations remain from Kuo and L0vetodream that the 16-inch MacBook Pro and a new 14-inch model will be released in early 2021.

While we got the first Apple Silicon desktop with the Mac mini, Kuo also predicts an iMac M1 for a launch in Q1 2021. Bloomberg also corroborated that Apple is working on a redesigned iMac.

Wrap

In the midst of a challenging year, Apple released a range of impressive new products and did really well with the shift to virtual events since WWDC in June.

While Apple events appear to be closed for the year, we can’t rule out the company releasing some of the remaining products like AirTags and more via press release, but it could end in 2021 before we see these products arrive. However, sometime in the next seven weeks, we will see the launch of the Fitness + service.
