The Ethiopian Ministry of Revenue announced that it has raised more than 107.6 million birr in the last four months. The amount exceeds the target set for the period, standing at 103 percent.
Lake Ayalew, Minister of Revenue, also noted that the amount collected has shown an increase of 17.3 billion birr compared to the same period last year. The minister attributed the increase in the amount of revenue collected to a general improvement in law enforcement, as well as a higher caliber of work among ministry workers. He also said that accessibility to electronic means of paying taxes was also an important factor.
The ministry will strive to perform even better, rectifying the gaps in its work, the minister reaffirmed. In addition, he said that citizens must show their love for their country by paying their taxes in an honest and timely manner.
