NY (TADIAS) – As families around the world face the new realities of life in the COVID-19 era, the Ethiopian Association for Mutual Community Assistance (ECMAA), which serves New York, New Jersey and Connecticut has launched an online weekly for children. Storytime with readings in both Amharic and English.
ECMAA claims that Zoom’s weekly meeting, which started last week, takes place every Tuesday between 4 and 6 p.m. The announcement indicates that the virtual event is ideal for parents and children aged between 3 and 12 years.
“Keeping children entertained during the lockdown can be challenging,” ECMAA noted. “Story time will be led by experienced teachers and storytellers,” said ECMAA: “We will read children’s books and other activities in Amharic and English to avoid cabin fever.”
In addition to the children’s program, ECMAA has been sharing timely resources with the community, including COVID-19 safety information, as well as national resources for financial support for families and small business owners.
“The coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread, claiming lives and wreaking economic havoc worldwide,” the organization states in its latest newsletter. “To overcome this pandemic, each and every one of us must go the extra mile to reduce our movements, practice social distancing, and follow the guidelines of the CDC and DOHMH.”
ECMAA added: “We as a community must stay strong and support each other here in the United States, as well as our brothers and sisters in Ethiopia. ECMAA is working with Connecticut Ethiopian Community Associations (ECAC), Massachusetts Ethiopian Support Association (MESA), and Tadias Magazine to leverage resources, provide information, and address the needs of our community here and in Ethiopia. collective and in coordination with each other. . “
