Addis Ababa – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed revealed the secret mission of the TPLF board that the group had planned to assassinate the reformist and kidnapped leaders, including the prime minister himself.

Responding to inquiries from parliamentarians, Prime Minister Abiy has been developing the challenging course of national reform since its inception in 2018.

Abiy revealed that reformist leaders, including the Prime Minister himself, were under clear surveillance and siege from the TPLF clique to curb the inclusive reform underway in Ethiopia.

The TPLF board had gone to great lengths to exterminate, kidnap and intimidate the reformist leadership, he said, adding that “from the beginning of the reform, an arrest warrant was issued for us. We were about to be arrested and killed.” .

The TPLF was said to have been maneuvering to install an individual who would give in to their demands and support their ambitions over the next designated Prime Minister of the country.

The TPLF throughout its existence as a political party and also as a government body has been playing a negative political role at the national level.

He recalled that the TPLF clique has been involved in 113 incidents of violence that have occurred in various parts of Ethiopia over the past two years.

However, the leadership has shown extreme patience to take action against the TPLF board in order to introduce a new mutual narrative and nation building.

But now, Abiy said, the TPLF attack on the northern command post has forced the federal government to launch a police operation against the defiant clique.

During the session, members of the house condemned the TPLF attack on the Northern Command of the National Army.
