Addis Ababa – Residents of the cities of Shire and Adi Daero in the Tigray region have expressed their willingness to stand firm with the Ethiopian National Defense Forces and the Interim Administration to restore peace and stability in the region.
It should be recalled that the Ethiopian defense force carried out a law enforcement operation in the Tigray region after the heinous acts orchestrated by the TPLF Board in the northern command of the national defense force.
Since the completion of the operation, the Ethiopian government has been committed to ensuring peace and stability in the region, in addition to its activities to rebuild infrastructure damaged by Junta forces and bring criminals to justice.
Residents of the cities of Shire and Adi Daero in the Tigray region have expressed their willingness to stand firm with the Ethiopian National Defense Forces and the Interim Administration to restore peace and stability to the region.
They also said that the defense forces have engaged in various social and developmental activities to help the people of Tigray.
Claiming that members of the national defense force in the Tigray region have been linked to marriages and family servitude with the people of Tigray, they denounced the attack by the TPLF Board on their northern command.
“The army here has established their families. Many have become engaged here and have had children. They built a house of their own. Generally we used to live together. But I am disappointed by the incident in our army,” said Agedem Semu from Adi Daero.
The residents further added that they are willing to collaborate with the Tigray Defense Force and Provisional Administration in the effort to restore peace in order to bring normalcy to the entire region.
They fled their home due to misinformation that had been spread by the TPLF Board, residents said, but currently several displaced people have returned home even though some are still left behind, including children and mothers, they added.
Neima Mesud, who resides in a temporary shelter in Shire, for her part, said that since peace must be the first priority, “I will actively work with the government to ensure peace in the region:
“What we want now is peace. When peace is assured, we can all unite for nation-building efforts,” he said.
“I am committed to joining the government to enforce the law in the region. With my two sons who are university students, I will do whatever it takes to help the country,” said Aydagn Kifle, another resident.
They also expressed their willingness to convince others still in the forests to return home while a reliable peace is being restored in the region.
Residents urged all Ethiopians to strengthen their unity regardless of identity to ensure peace and prosperity for the country.
