Ethiopia has become the latest destination to receive the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) Safe Travel Seal, the world’s first global health and safety seal.

Reporting to the media today, Culture and Tourism Minister Hirut Kassaw said that the UK-based WTTC has recognized Ethiopia’s efforts to prevent the COVID-19 pandemic and revive the tourism sector.

According to her, Ethiopia is among the 14 countries that received the Safe Travel Stamps.

The recognition would help the country attract tourists to come to Ethiopia without any security concerns, the minister said, adding that the Safe Travel Stamps were achieved thanks to the activities carried out in tourist destinations and the strategy designed to rehabilitate the sector. .

Hirut stated that “WTTC has supported us to reach international standards. After their attendance and evaluations, the council certified us the Safe Travel Stamps. So we would like to thank the council. “

This guarantee of travel safety would go a long way to revive the tourism sector that has stagnated due to the spread of COVID-19, ENA said.

Ethiopian Tourism Director General Sileshi Girma said recognition from the council, which has more than 200 member countries, plays a crucial role in revitalizing the sector to full capacity.
