Ethiopia: Multichoice presents a plan to expand investment in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa – MultiChoice Ethiopia, a South African company that operates the DStv satellite television service, announced a plan to significantly increase its investment in Ethiopia.

The company said in a statement that it is looking to widely expand its reach, investment in people and infrastructure in Ethiopia.

It also plans to support Ethiopian content and content creators, including a strong investment in local content as part of its hyper-local content strategy.

MultiChoice Group’s strategy of creating hyper-local content, made locally, has already paid off and has allowed the company to commit to continuing its investment in local content production and aggregation, he said.

According to the statement, the company has recently launched the channel ‘Zee Alem’ dedicated to Ethiopian on the Group’s DStv platform.

MultiChoice has also trained vernacular SuperSport commentators for local sports broadcasts.

MultiChoice Ethiopia has incorporated almost all local channels and free-to-air radio stations on the DStv platform to provide clients with local news, entertainment and music offerings, he said.
