The Ethiopian National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) revealed on Saturday that they have arrested 14 suspected members of the extremist groups Islamic State (IS) and al-Shabab.

In a press release sent to the media, the NISS said that the 14 suspects were arrested while planning terrorist attacks in various parts of Ethiopia.

“The suspects are charged with recruiting potential members of terrorist cells, planning terrorist attacks and possible targets of terrorist attacks,” the statement said.

“The arrests were made in collaboration with the federal police commission, the Addis Ababa police, the Amhara police, the Oromia police and the Somali region police commissions,” the statement further said.
