Epic Games Store has been counting down for the launch of an unnamed free title at 11 a.m. ET today, and we knew last night that the game would be Rockstar’s big hit Grand Theft Auto V, thanks to an early tweet posted by the official Epic Games Twitter account. However, since the clock passed at 11 a.m. ET, the Epic Games Store has completely dropped, presumably because people have been updating the site trying to claim the free game.
Epic It has been recognized that the store is experiencing problems:

We are aware that users may encounter slow load times, 500 errors or launcher failures at the moment and we are actively working to scale. We will provide an update as soon as we can.

It seems that heavy traffic to the Epic Games store could also be affecting other Epic services, such as an official Fortnite Twitter account said the game was “investigating problems” on PC and Mac:
