Australian Ellyse Perry has swept the top individual women’s accolades at the ICC Decade Awards: ICC Women’s ODI Decade Cricketer of the Decade, ICC Women’s T20I Decade Cricketer and ICC Women’s Player of the Decade of the ICC. Perry has established herself as a vital cog on Australia’s women’s side with superlative bat and ball performances in all three formats.

An icon in women’s cricket, Perry was the youngest to debut for Australia when she made her ODI debut in 2007, aged 16 years and 261 days. Perry, a multi-talented person, had a future career in professional football, but chose to be a cricketer, even though she went on to represent the Australian women’s team at the World Cup.

Her bowling alley was the standout feature in her early days as a cricketer, but Perry also became an acclaimed hitter, with her impressive double-hundred in the ashes in Sydney in 2017, one of the many highlights of her career.

Perry played an important role in the Australian dominance of women’s cricket in the last decade; she was a key player in her five winning World Cup campaigns. Her remarkable performance came at the 2013 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, where she won 3/19 in the final in Mumbai against the West Indies despite limping from injury. After aborting her career twice on her first change, she went on to give birth to a maiden. After three overs, he had two wickets and conceded only three runs.

Her theory with the bat is quite simple, as she says herself: “Look at the ball. With six needed to win and four to tie the last ball, Devine hit a tremendous direct shot that would have been four and tied the game if Perry hadn’t used his foot to deflect the ball mid-goal and win the title for Australia. . .
